💰 Auction Coverage — Hake’s Highlights

Hake’s Auctions continues to deliver top-tier results for high-end pop culture collectibles — with vintage Star Wars, rare comics, and action figures pulling in serious bids. This past week’s event featured some jaw-dropping sales that prove the demand for iconic characters and pristine grading is still going strong.

Here are some of the standout results that caught our attention:

One of the rarest early Star Wars figures just landed a massive sale. A 1978 Luke Skywalker 12 Back-A with a Double-Telescoping Lightsaber, graded AFA 85 NM+, sold for $84,370 at Hake’s.
This variant is incredibly scarce — just 3 known in this grade — making it a grail-level piece for vintage Star Wars collectors.

2. Original Art from Star Wars #1 Brings in $80,476
An original comic book page from Star Wars #1 (1977), illustrated by Howard Chaykin, sold for $80,476.

3. Star Wars #5 Original Art Sells for $42,834
Another vintage gem from Howard Chaykin — this time an original page from Star Wars #5 — sold for $42,834.

A three-cel production setup from the infamous Star Wars Holiday Special (1978), featuring Boba Fett and Stormtroopers, sold for $39,804.47.

🕵️‍♂️ Finds of the Week

Every week, we dig through auctions, marketplaces, and community chatter to uncover some of the most interesting, unexpected, or under-the-radar finds in the collectible world. From rare pulls to big flips — here’s what stood out this week.

1- Tales of Suspense #52—the 1964 Marvel comic marking Black Widow's first appearance—was digitally released on VeVe on September 16, 2021. This drop featured five variant covers, with the Secret Rare "True Believer Variant" limited to 600 editions. Currently, these Secret Rare editions are trading around $45 on VeVe's secondary market, presenting an accessible opportunity for collectors to own a digital version of this significant issue. Given the limited minting and Black Widow's prominence in the Marvel Universe, this digital collectible holds potential for appreciation among enthusiasts.

2. Wonder Woman Gold Idle (McFarlane Digital Toys)
This sleek gold digital collectible is more than just a flex — it comes with serious utility. Holders get private Discord access to Todd McFarlane himself, creating a direct line to one of the biggest names in comics and toys. Current floor price - 425 Polygon ($86.64)

With only 152 editions in existence, this is one of the rarest McFarlane digital releases to date. Considering the limited supply and exclusive access, this collectible still feels undervalued on the market.
